Before you go thinking the title is in reference to me signing off "forever" and never blogging again, don't worry your pretty little heads about it - it's not. If and/or when that time comes, I'll probably not provide any type of warning or 'farewell' address post - it'll just happen (hehehe).
Yesterday, January 12, 2019, was the last "Shroudpalooza" run for this season.
It's tempting to say "year" instead of "season", but this year (2019) just started and this season's Shroudpalooza's first run was in October 2018. So technically, this season started "last" year.
Semantics aside, Shroudpalooza 2018 wrapped up it's official run yesterday on the Cannith server (of DDO, in case you didn't already know that).
What is - or "was" - Shroudpalooza? It is/was the brain-child of BonnieBew, a long-time player of DDO, dinosaur aficionado*, LASER** enthusiast, and "The Shroud" raid fanatic. She came up with the crazy idea to host as many runs of "The Shroud" as (super?)humanly possible within a 3-hour period on each of DDO's eight servers. One server at a time, of course - trying to run on all servers simultaneously is just silly. {Hmmm...}
This season's Shroudpalooza was run every other Saturday over a 15-week period (if you count the very first run as week "one"), starting with the Thelanis server on October 6, 2018 and concluding n the Cannith server January 12, 2019. The main organizers were BonnieBew (natch), Evennote, and Tholgrin. This season's Shroudpalooza was also tied-in to Extra Life - a charitable organization that helps to provide medical needs to sick kids all around the USA. Specifically, Shroudpalooza's Extra Life donations were going to support a local Boston, MA children's hospital, seeing as how Standing Stone Games (SSG)† is located in the Boston area.
While I was not able to participate in every Shroudpalooza Saturday††, I was there for the first one and I was there for the last one. And I think it is safe to say that a good time was had by all.
So, though it is too late to participate this season, there are already rumors and rumbling of Shroudpalooza making a return for next season. That should be plenty of time for you (and you know who you are - hehehe) to make sure you have at least one DDO toon that is flagged. You don't need to have a toon flagged on every server, but you certainly could.
____
* I was going to say (metaphorically speaking) "dinosaur lover" but that could be misinterpreted.
** LASER is an acronym (not to be confused with "anachronism" ) and thus should be capitalized.
† SSG is the current developer of both DDO and LotRO. They (both now and under their previous guise as "Turbine") have been supporters of Extra Life for years. In fact, one of LotRO's development team members left then Turbine to go work directly for Extra Life.
†† Pretty sure all of this season's Shroudpalooza runs are recorded for posterity over on the DDO Stream channel on Twitch, should one be inclined to (re)watch them.
