Shroudpalooza 2018

I'm actually a little late in posting this, but Shroudpalooza is back.

"What is 'Shroudpalooza'?," you ask?  It is the brain-child of Bonnie Bew*.  "The Shroud" is a raid on DDO and it is one of her favorite quests/raids to run - it is also one of the more popular DDO raids, to boot.  So one day, she decided she was going to schedule a few hours on several Saturdays to run as many "The Shroud" raids as could be fit into the allotted time, with each day dedicated to a specific DDO server; eight Saturdays in toto**.  And each run was open to whomever was flagged on a (more-or-less) first-come, first-accepted basis.

This year, Bonnie decided to bring back Shroudpalooza, only this time, they are also using it as a platform to help raise money for "Extra Life".  Now, you don't have to donate to "Extra Life" in order to participate in Shroudpalooza.  But, "Extra Life" is a good charity and if you have the means, then why not make a donation through the Shroudpalooza donation page?

As of this posting, they have already completed runs on Thelanis, Sarlona, and Orien† servers.  Next up is Wayfinder on November 17, so you still have plenty of time to flag if you wish to participate there.

* I'd attach a web-link, but last I checked, Bonnie let her blogging domain lapse.  Which is too bad, 'cuz she had some good stuff on there.  Maybe she'll resurrect it someday.  Then again, she does still have a Twitter account, so you can follow her, if you like.

** I had always been taught it was "en toto", but my Google-fu tells me differently.  And while it is possible that it used to be "en toto", I bow to the Merriam-Webster's online dictionary that says otherwise.  Honestly, I'd rather see what the Oxford-English Dictionary has to say, but they require a subscription to use, so I'll settle for Webster's.

† There is debate on how this is pronounced.  I believe the correct pronunciation is "OR-ee-en" (similar to "Orient"), but the seemingly prevailing way is "or-EYE-on" (like "Orion").  "po-TAY-to", "po-TAH-to".
