Mordor

"Mordor. The one place in Middle-earth we don't want to see any closer, and the one place we're trying to get to. It's just where we can't get." -Samwise Gamgee

Except, in LotRO at least, that soon won't be the case.

Right now, you can pre-purchase LotRO's next expansion:  Mordor.  From the fine print on the pre-purchase advertisement page, it's due out on July 31st (2017, in case you're reading this post in some other year).  However, there is the caveat that, as with all things MMO-content related, it is possible it will be pushed back.  But the fine print goes on to 'guarantee' it will be released no later than August 31st (again, 2017).

Now, as you would expect, there is a lot of complaining about the price of the top-end "Ultimate Fan Bundle".  I've seen other blogs* compare and contrast this price with other MMO expansions.  But you know what?  Who cares?  SSG is not the other game studios - they are SSG.  If you don't want to pay that price, then don't get the "Ultimate Fan Bundle" - it really is just that simple.  Most comparisons to the "Standard Edition" seem to agree it is a reasonable price for the expansion.  I concur.  So if you don't care about a new race, an extra character slot, extra shared vault space, cosmetics, titles, new mounts, et. al., just get the "Standard Edition".

On the other hand, if you do want the other stuff, then you'll just have to shell out the extra money.

Ah, but then there's a third choice:  the "Collector's Edition".  It includes the new race, the additional character slot, cosmetics, a single new title, and a mount.  Obviously it's more than the "Standard Edition", but less than "The Ultimate Fan Bundle".  It would have been nice for it to include at least some of the extra shared storage, but oh well.  It is what it is.
